Prime Minister's Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam yesterday said the people are enjoying religious coexistence and communal harmony in the country.
HT Imam said in a seminar at DU that "Our Constitution framed under the guidance of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman protect and ensure religious rights and freedom of all people".
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan and Bangladesh Boudha Kristi Prachar Sangha Sanghanayaka President Suddhananda Mahathero addressed it as special guests.
DU Pali and Buddhist Studies Department organised the daylong international seminar on "Buddhism, Civilisation and Culture" at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
The speakers strongly condemned the brutal killings and atrocities on Rohingya people in Myanmar for long time. They urged the international community to take stringent measures immediately to solve the crisis and put pressure on Myanmar government.
Tokyo University Professor Minowa Kenryo and DU Pali and Buddhist Studies Department Professor Dr Biman Chandra Barua and Professor Dr Dilip Kumar Barua, among others, spoke.
