Bangladesh in History

Bangladesh is surrounded with many histories.The main part of our history is Bangladesh liberation war. Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in 1971  and achieiving liberation From pakistan in Bangladesh liberation war. This is also known as Bangladesh war of independence. That time bangladesh was devided into two parts which were east Pakistan and west Pakistan. East Pakistan is considered as Bangladesh and west Pakistan is considered as Pakistan after liberation war.

Actually west Pakistani were trying to make Urdu as our mother language and snatch bangali nationalist during the 1971 bangladesh genocide. It normally resulted in the people's republic of bangladesh.

The war began based on Pakistani military junta which was based in west pakistan launched operation searchlight against the people of east Pakistan on the night of 25 March 1971. Pakistani militry were trying to eliminate nationalist Bengali civilians, students, intelligentia, religious minorities and armed personnel. After the result of 1970's election Prime minister designate Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested.

After 9 months liberation war by  brave freedom fighters who gave their lives to make  country free from enemy, Bangladesh achieved liberation. Arround 30 milions people gave their lives during liberation war. The war ended on 16 December 1971 after West Pakistan surrendered.

For the respect of  freedom fighters, National Martye's memorial which is national monument  in Bangladesh was built in Savar which was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain. This monument was built in 1982.

On the night of 14 December 1971, over 200 of East Pakistan's intellectuals including professors, journalists, doctors, artists, engineers, and writers were killed in Dhaka .Martyre's intellectuals Memorial  is a memorial which was  built in memory of the martyred intellectuals of the Bangladesh liberation war. In the memory of martyred intelectuals,14 december 1971 is mourned in Bangladesh as "Day of the Martyred intellectuals".
